Publish or Perish (or Parish?)

So, my supervisor at my work-study had an interesting observation regarding this blog that has me thinking that I need to get my butt in gear in the publishing department.  "You know, as often as those megachurches change their formats and staffs and styles, you had better publish that material pretty quickly so that it will still be relevant."  Now that I think of it, since I started writing about six months ago . . .

Rob Bell has announced his departure from Mars Hill.

Ted Haggard has announced that his family will appear on "Celebrity Wife Swap."

Joel Osteen has like three new books out.

Mark Driscoll's said a few thousand new inflammatory things.

So yeah, a lot has changed, and maybe it's time I sat down and actually crafted all this into book format before too much else changes.  My biggest hesitation in doing so is that I'm worried about looking back at all of this and seeing my observations/humor/etc. as uninformed or ignorant or outdated, and that's an unnerving thought.  Even scarier than all of these churches changing is the sheer knowledge that I too am continuing to grow and change (especially as the job search begins).

I've got a week-long break from classes coming up.  Maybe I can work on this a bit then.

Peace and Blessings,
Tom
