Prepare for a Deluge of Posts . . .

So, word of warning: I'm probably going to be putting a solid 40-50 pages of writing on the blog at some point late this evening.  I'm nearly done with the Austin Stone and Hill Country writeups, and they're . . . well, they're just really, really long.  Also, I'm working on a recap of today's amazing Lord of the Streets visit, and writing about that church is forcing me to delve deeper into some of my own past experiences (and mistakes).

Lastly, Erin's indulged me and written a piece on the positive and negative aspects of churches' preferences toward international missions over local, and I'm planning to post it here as a guest commentary of sorts.  Originally, her post started out as a comment in response to my short entry titled "Day 70: A Difficult Question," but with Erin's experience in this field --Haiti research, mission trips, and pretty much her entire undergraduate education--, we soon realized that her analysis merited its own post, so we're in the process of fine-tuning and editing that piece as well.  (Hey ordination council members, not to jump the gun here, but the words "potential ministry power couple" are kind of coming to mind right now.  Just FYI.)  I'm going to wait until I have the Austin Stone/Country Hill/Lord of the Streets stuff posted, and then Erin's commentary will be the next post so that it doesn't get lost in the flood of church writeups preceding it.  She's far more knowledgeable about this subject than I am, so I don't want to publish her thoughts and then have them immediately bumped to the archive when I put up a childish rant about how much I dislike Matt Redman's music (and yes, that post is on its way too).  Again: all of this will be up sometime in the next 24 hours or so.

There's also a piece on redefining the concept of "privilege" that I've been kicking around for a few days now, and it will probably go up Thursday or Friday.  I thought about saving it for after Potter's House and using it as part of my continual exploration of how an ignorant white person like myself can still be an active participant in conversations about race, but I don't really like hording articles, so I'll probably go ahead and post it soon.  I have no idea what the Texans put in their drinking water that's making me so productive this week, but I'm grateful for it.

Peace and Blessings,
Tom
